TAYTO Park's new driving school and Dublin's Roe and Co Distillery have been named among the world's best new experiences for the coming year.

They appear in Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2019, which features top destinations, trends, journeys and experiences.

Tayto Park's driving school in Co Meath, scheduled to open in April, is among the top 10 picks of the world's best new attractions for kids.

It will give children the chance to learn the rules of the road and test their driving skills on a purpose built, road marked traffic course.

The easy drive track will accommodate 20 miniature battery operated cars at one time.

"If life in the fast (or even slow) lane appeals to your children, they will love the chance to be proper drivers at Tayto Park's new driving school," says Lonely Planet.

"What children might not expect is that they take away their own ‘driving licence’ at the end of the day. There are lessons in how to drive and then a chance to take to the road with 20 other young drivers."

Roe and Co Distillery features seventh on the travel authority's list of the top 10 new openings for 2019.

"There's no better indication that Irish whiskey is back in fashion than the fact that drinks giant Diageo, which owns Guinness, has got in on the act," says Lonely Planet.

"Alongside the whiskey distillery, an exciting visitor centre is planned for next year. Get a taste of the action from April 2019."
