THE father of Tyrone GAA player Clare McSorley has appealed to people not to "suffer in silence" following the death of his "wonderful daughter".

Tommy McSorley described how his heart has been broken by the sudden death of the 18-year-old from Omagh on Tuesday.

"I know how to fix most things when they break - washing machines, dryers, lights, cars and loads of other things in life," he wrote.

"I know this is asking a lot but I will pay anyone any amount of money if they could please tell me how to fix a heart."

A former pupil at Drumragh Integrated College, the teenager was a popular and talented member of Drumragh Sarsfields GAA club, where she had celebrated championship success.

She had also competed at senior level with the Tyrone ladies football team from the age of just 15.

The Drumragh club has opened its doors for the past two nights to allow team-mates to come together and share memories of their friend.

In a message posted on social media, Mr McSorley said the death of his "absolutely beautiful, loving, caring and wonderful daughter" had left the family completely devastated.

He also told others it is "ok not to be ok".

"Please, please don't suffer in silence and let someone know how you feel - there are so many ways to communicate with each other these days but yet there are those out there who feel they can't," he said.

"My daughter Clare took the worries of the world on her shoulders and I honestly believe she didn't want people to worry about her and kept so much hurt and frustration bottled up inside her in the end that's the hardest part of this to take.

"I have and will always love you Clare. Dad xx"

The teenager is survived by her parents Jackie and Tommy and sisters Ellen and Orlagh.

Her funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Drumragh tomorrow at 10am with interment at Dublin Road Cemetery.
