If you’ve ever had your lunch go missing at work or the last of your milk used up by someone else at home then the latest concept from alarm firm ADT might be exactly what you need.

The company has created a smaller, smarter version of its famous yellow alarm boxes normally seen on the front of houses that is designed to watch over your personal possessions.

Called MAIA (Motion Activated Identification Alarm), the device is designed to be placed close to items you want to protect. MAIA houses a motion sensor and camera that snaps a picture when someone moves within 50cm of the alarm and sends the image direct to your smartphone.

The alarm comes with Velcro attachments on the back, and ADT says it’s designed to fit onto any biscuit tin, Tupperware or fridge to help protect its contents.

Although a concept design, the alarm company is giving away a select few on its Facebook page should you want to shore-up the protection around your cookie jar.
