Here's how to recreate the 'no eyeliner, no mascara' make-up look from Julien Macdonald's LFW runway

Julien Macdonald is known for delivering ultra glamorous, red carpet-ready gowns and his AW17 show at London Fashion Week was no exception.

To complement the skin-tight, sparkling selection on the catwalk, make-up legend Val Garland designed a bold, futuristic beauty look that she called “a little bit robotic”.

Before you start thinking it’s all a bit too cyborg for you, Garland sets the record straight.

“This time round Julien was inspired by the art of HR Giger (Swiss surrealist painter), he wanted his girls to feel kind of robogenetic, like replicants,” she said.

“So she’s still a Julien girl, she’s still strong, but this time it’s all about this very matte velvet smoked-out eye.”

And the good news is, it’s actually quite easy to recreate at home.

“The skin is just perfectly groomed,” Garland explained. “It’s quite matte down the centre but we’ve got highlight coming through here on the side.

“With the eye palette, I’ve just been working with the strong matte black. It’s this strong banana shape, there’s no eyeliner, it’s just the shadow.”

Then all you need to do is press the powder in with a flat brush then get a soft brush and blend it out.

“Just blend, blend, blend!” Garland said. “The brows are just brushed up and groomed with a brow gel, and there’s no mascara.”

Which is kinda cool if you are one of those who struggle with the eyeliner or don’t like the lumpy effect some mascaras have.

And for the lips, Garland said: “There’s just a little hint of a natural colour on the lip, it’s L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paint in Hollywood Beige.”

And voila! You’ve got a look that could set the beauty trend for 2017.

Garland and her team used L’Oreal Infallible Total Cover foundation for the face, L’Oreal Colour Riche Quad in Magnetic Black palette for the eyes, L’Oreal True Match Liquid Illuminator Icy Glow to hightlight the face and L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paint in Hollywood Beige for the lips.
