JAMIE Dornan has confirmed he'll be returning for a second series of hit BBC thriller The Tourist - and this time he'll be filming in Ireland.
I'm incredibly excited to continue the story with The Tourist," said the Co Down-born star, who will also co-produce the new series.
"Harry and Jack Williams are brilliant writers and I can’t wait for audiences to see how well Ireland and its characters are utilised to keep them guessing as the tale progresses."
Co-star Danielle Macdonald is also returning for the new episodes of The Tourist, which bagged 12 million viewers when it debuted on BBC iPlayer in January 2022. Series two will begin shooting in April.
“I’m so excited to team up with Jamie again and return for another wild adventure with an amazing cast and crew. Jack and Harry Williams are brilliant storytellers and it’s exciting to see what their minds will come up with next,” said Macdonald.
According to the BBC, the second series will find Elliot (Dornan) and Helen (Macdonald) "dragged into the dangerous whirlwind of his past life" while confronting "foes, old and new".
"The Tourist was unlike anything we’d written before and we’re hugely grateful for the incredible response to series one," said series writers/creators Jack and Harry Williams.
"It’s been an exciting journey getting stuck into that world again with the quirky characters that were so loved, and seeing where we could take them next, whilst continuing to deliver a tonally unique and off-beat drama."
No air date for The Tourist series two has been announced, but viewers will soon see Jamie Dornan co-starring with Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) in the Netflix thriller Heart Of Stone which will premiere later in the year.
