HIT US drama Homeland returns in two weeks' time for a fifth series of 'war on terror'-themed action and intrigue.
When last we met, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) was considering her options after losing her father, reconnecting with her estranged, family revelations-spewing mother and becoming thoroughly disillusioned with CIA mentor Saul (Mandy Pantinkin).
Meanwhile, her 'will they hurry up and just get it on already' associate Quinn (Rupert Friend) took Carrie's latest bout of romantic indecision hard, resolving to forget her by signing up for yet more soul-crushing stealth-killing in foreign lands on behalf of Uncle Sam.
Series five fast forwards us two years to find Carrie out of the CIA and in the midst of a fresh start working with a private security firm in Berlin.
Of course, a spy's past never stays in the past and before too long Carrie is once again running scared – this time without Saul and Quinn on hand to help protect her and her young daughter.
However, I'm betting at least one of them will be back on the scene before too long.
