CITROEN'S new electric people carrier, the e-Berlingo, has an entry price of £29,575, once the government's £2,500 plug-in car grant has been applied.

The e-Berlingo has up to seven seats and comes in 'M' and 'XL' body sizes.

It uses the same electric drivetrain that is spreading throughout the Citroen, Peugeot, DS and Vauxhall line-ups, meaning a 134bhp electric motor and a 50kWh battery.

In e-Berlingo guise, Citroen says it should be good for a range of up to 174 miles.

Two trim levels - 'Feel' and 'Flair XTR' - are offered.

Feel starts at £29,575 for the M body size and £31,575 for the XL, both including the grant.

These models come with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights and automatic windscreen wipers.

Inside, there's cloth upholstery with a folding front passenger seat and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.

The Flair XTR is only available with the M body, with prices starting at £32,280 after the grant.

Its higher specification includes 17-inch alloy wheels as well as black and orange exterior parts.

Inside, it gets fabric upholstery, 10-inch digital instrument cluster, sat nav, head-up display and a reversing camera.
