Mazda still has 6 appeal

AMID the blizzard of SUVs and electric cars, it would be easy to forget just how brilliant Mazda's excellent 6 saloon and estate models still are.

I have an excuse to mention the car on the Drive pages today because Mazda has wheeled out a special edition, limited to just 100 examples.

Called the 'Kuro Edition', it is chiefly a cosmetic exercise. The bodywork gets Mazda's distinctive 'polymetal' grey metallic paint while the 19-inch alloy wheels are painted in black. The door mirrors and other exterior detailing is finished in black as well.

Inside are some rather fancy looking leather seats finished in burgundy.

It is a well kitted out car, with a reversing camera, 11-speaker Bose audio system, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel and LED headlamps all standard.

There is only one engine choice - a 2.0-litre petrol with 163bhp - and the saloon is priced from £29,250 and the estate from £30,250.
