:: WANT the new iPhone 7 but can’t stretch to buying it Sim-free? Most people spread the cost by bundling it with their network’s usage tariff but the total cost is usually a lot more than you’d pay if you could afford to buy the handset outright and pair it with a low-cost Sim-only deal.

Apple has launched its own ‘iPhone Payments’ scheme, essentially a 20-month interest-free loan with a £49 up-front cost. It’s available in Apple stores only and provides the handset unlocked for use on any network. Consumer website www.moneysavingexpert.com has the lowdown at http://tinyurl.com/jo49ssr.

:: Starbucks has, without fanfare, reduced the price of a tall filter coffee by more than a third, from £1.55 to £1. Bring your own tumbler and you’ll pay just 75p (although in my experience, you might have to remind the cashier about this). Refills remain free too.

Got a Starbucks rewards card? Over the next few Mondays you can avail of special offers. On September 19 it’s a free grande latte when you buy a breakfast item (these include bagels, paninos, baps and filled croissants). On September 26 it’s a free muffin when you pay for a grande espresso-based drink. On October 3 it’s a free hot drink when you buy a box of tea.

:: Newsflash for photographers: Calumet is offering free digital SLR sensor cleaning on its Belfast open day, October 13. It’s first come, first served at the shop on Boucher Plaza (telephone 028 9077 7770), from 10am until 4pm.

The service, which keeps your camera in tip-top condition and your pictures free from the havoc sensor spots can wreak on images, normally costs at least £36 (or £51 for same-day collection) - so please consider making a donation to Macmillan Cancer Research on the day.

:: Until September 20, large tubs (usually about 725g) of Celebrations, Quality Street, Roses, Heroes, Haribo and Swizzels Sweet Shop Favourites are two for £7 at Tesco. That’s a saving of up to £3.
