A new Asian 'street food' concept has opened at Belfast International Airport.

Located in the ‘Northern Quarter’ hospitality area of the departures concourse, ‘Hawker’ has been launched by facilities management firm Mount Charles.

The company’s chairman, Trevor Annon, said the new food outlet will employ five people.

“Having already developed a close working relationship with Belfast International Airport over the last number of years, we are excited to launch our latest venture in Hawker,” he said.

“We are committed to excellence and customer satisfaction, and so we have significantly invested in the restaurant unit itself, the branding, the staff and of course the new menu offering.

“We believe that Hawker will elevate the dining experience for the airport’s customers and service users.”

Airport boss Graham Keddie, said: “Hawker is an exciting new concept for Belfast International Airport, and we are delighted to welcome this new Asian street food addition to the departures concourse.

“This new outlet underlines our commitment to enhancing the passenger experience and providing customers with more choice on their journey through the airport.”

Matthew Wheatley, head chef at Hawker, added: “Hawker is the adaptation of the ever-evolving food industry.

“As food trends come and go, it is important to carefully develop a menu with deep appreciation for fresh, seasonal ingredients and meticulous preparation techniques.

“Our new restaurant will boast a variety of different flavours ranging from our spicy Schezwan sauce to our mild Korean kimchi.”
