BOOJUM has announced plans to open its first new outlet since its takeover by the Azzurri casual dining chain in June.

Some 16 years after the first Boojum burrito bar opened in Belfast, the Mexican food chain has announced store number 15 on the island.

The new outlet, due to open at Dublin’s Liffey Valley Shopping Centre next month, will be its eighth in the city, creating 30 jobs.

Originally set up by John and Karen Blisard, Boojum was acquired by brothers David and Andrew Maxwell in 2015, who partnered with Dublin-based Renatus for the deal.

David Maxwell, who remains managing director following the Azzurri Group’s move, said: “Boojum was born in Belfast but has passionate fans from both ends of the country and following the success of our Blanchardstown store which opened in 2021, we realised we needed to give our Dublin customers another location outside of the city centre.

“This marks our second out-of-town location and allows us to extend our delivery service area to D22 and beyond, which has been requested by Boojum fanatics for quite some time now.”
