A BELFAST pub group is preparing to open what it claims will be the city’s first ‘Guinness only’ bar.

The Clover Group, which runs Henry’s, Fountain Lane, Margot and Pug Uglys, said ‘White’s Store’ will be developed inside the snug area of White’s Tavern.

The Winecellar Entry venue, which traces its origins back to the 1630s, has undergone significant redevelopment and expansion under the Clover Group in recent years.

The pub group said the new venue will espouse a traditional style pub with familiar interior finishes including salvaged quarry tiles, a reclaimed bar and timber wall panelling.

It will seat 30 people and will serve only Guinness draught and 'Guinness Zero'.

O’Donnell O’Neill Design Associates has been tasked with its design.

Clover Group director, Mark Beirne, said:  “We are very excited about this new partnership with the Guinness brand, which will bring to life unique and unforgettable experiences for our customers as they enjoy the quality of one of the world’s greatest brands in a stunningly intimate and historic venue.

“It has been ever present within our vision, to deliver new, fun and novel experiences for customers and we expect there to be huge demand for ‘White’s Store’ both from local people and international visitors coming to enjoy the great hospitality that our city has to offer.”

Guinness marketing director, Alan McAleenan added: “We are delighted to partner with The Clover Group and see the first ever Guinness only bar come to Belfast.

“It’s our aim to create unique experiences where people can enjoy beautiful Guinness.

“White’s Store will offer the opportunity to enjoy delicious creamy pints and celebrate the heritage of our brand and the vibrancy of our future. I’m looking forward to having a pint there very soon.”
