PAVING and building product manufacturer AG has unveiled its new £3 million factory in Fivemiletown.

But the Co Tyrone group, formerly known as Acheson & Glover, has confirmed the closure of its site between Dungannon and Moy.

Manufacturing ceased at the Old Moy Road site last year.

But the company said the site had now closed completely “as part of a wider consolidation of its sales and administration function”.

The ‘Outside Room’ retail aspect of the Moy site is to be replaced with a new retail facility within JP Corrys in Dromore, Co Down.

AG said there have been no redundancies with staff offered relocation options within the business.

Acheson & Glover has undergone significant restructuring in recent years. A difficult trading period in 2018 led to the collapse of its precast division.

But the renewed focus on paving products in recent years appears to have paid dividends for the business.

Speaking as he unofficially unveiled the group’s new factory in Fivemiletown, AG chief executive Stephen Acheson said the company had experienced “unprecedented demand” for its paving products over the past number of years in both commercial and domestic sectors.

"This new facility will significantly increase our production capacity allowing us to produce more products to keep up with demand levels - helping us to satisfy new and existing customers,” he said.

AG said new Fivemiletown factory will produce a wide range of flagstones for customers in both Ireland and the UK.

The investment in the site includes technology geared at increasing performance efficiency while, improving health and safety and helping cut the firm’s carbon footprint.

“At AG we remain committed to producing the best products for all our customers,” continued Mr Acheson.

“Our continued investment in facilities and new technology will ensure continued quality, higher productivity, and improved energy efficiency.

“We have expanded our product portfolio whilst maintaining our determination to always manufacture products that are better, faster and safer.”
