IRELAND’S largest rug retailer Kukoon has expanded its Newry presence by opening a 1,600sq ft concept store in the Quays shopping centre, showcasing more than 400 of its exclusive designs.

And the move by the loom-to-room specialist will initially create two additional retail jobs for the city.

The firm's managing director Clare Vallely said: “Kukoon has its headquarters at Carnbane industrial estate, and Newry means so much to us as a family and as a business.

“Before my dad moved into the rugs market, he and mum had a shop on Monaghan Street, so opening our new concept store just down the road in the Quays feels right.

“Supporting the Newry community and providing jobs for local people is something which is very close to my heart and where better to do that than in the Quays shopping centre?”

Kukoon (www.kukoonrugs.com) conducts a large percentage of its sales online, but has expanded its bricks and mortar offer as many customers like to see the product before making a purchase.

“Our new store at the Quays complements our showroom in Belfast letting customers browse through our collection and providing an opportunity to get a hands-on feel for the quality,” Clare added.

“Our sustainable and durable Renuu range takes centre stage in the new store along with our artist collaborations and all the latest designs for 2024.

“We are delighted to be opening this store in the heart of our home city and provide customers with extended opening hours.

“We believe our dedicated staff, speed to market, value for money and always being on trend is what sets Kukoon apart from others.”
