Keady director is banned for six years

THE director of a company involved in vehicle and plant sales whose business went bust owing close to £500,000 has been banned from the boardroom for six years.

The Department for the Economy has accepted the disqualification undertaking from Roy Harold Davis (52) of Rathmoyle Park in Keady.

He was director of A P Vehicle & Plant Equipment in Dundonald, which went into liquidation in December 2019 with an estimated deficiency of £478,795.

Davis admitted causing the company to submit inaccurate VAT returns totalling £262,677 and a further sum of £88,296 of assessments raised by HMRC, resulting in a loss of monies properly due to the Crown from 2017/18.

The company also failed to comply with duties in terms of filing accurate VAT returns, which resulted in a large debt falling due to HMRC.

Davis continued to run AP Vehicle & Plant Equipment without any regard to his obligations as a director in terms of compliance the VAT regime, which resulted in the company having more money than it ought to have had available to fund its continued trading.
