A LONG-established Belfast commercial printing operation has been saved from possible closure following the appointment of administrators last November.

It has emerged that Ballymena man Aaron Klewchuk has purchased Impro Printing in a pre-liquidation package for an undisclosed sum.

And he now aims to return the company to its pre-pandemic levels and then grow the business substantially and invest £250,000 in stitching and binding machinery to enhance its finishing capabilities.

He has also appointed two new directors in Kirk Dominy, one of Impro’s longest-serving employees, who becomes operations director, and Gavin Leitch (sales director).

Founded in 1975 initially as a graphic design company, Impro Printing currently specialises in B2 sheet-fed litho supplying many industry sectors such as banking, legal, hospitality, manufacturing and pharmaceutical.

It was heavily impacted by Covid, but the sale of the company’s assets alongside new investment are expected to restore Impro Printing to its pre-pandemic levels, securing its future and that of its employees.

Mr Klewchuk - who also owns commercial print firm Ballyprint in Ballymena and wedding stationery supplier Perfect Day Print - said: “I'm pleased to have purchased Impro Printing.

“I’d been looking for some time to extend my business portfolio, and the timing was right as this is a company with an excellent reputation. This is a great opportunity to build on this company’s legacy in business and grow it alongside the other companies.”

The procurement of Impro will extend Ballyprint’s reach with a complementary area of printing services.

Innovation and investment in new business and printing technologies have been key to Aaron’s companies’ success, and he has introduced the latest software and management systems to help the business run as efficiently as possible.
