THE importance of mediation in settling legal and commercial disputes has been highlighted with the launch of a new website https://mediationni.com/ by the Law Society Mediation Service (LSMS).

The site is seen as a one stop shop for those involved in legal disputes which showcases the benefits of mediation as well as the contact details of more than 20 local solicitor mediators specifically trained to work with disputing parties.

LSMS has launched the new website in response to the growing evidence which suggests that mediation is an effective, cheaper, and less stressful way means of resolving legal disputes than going to court.

Whether it’s a family, divorce, commercial or conveyancing dispute the new website will provide litigants and the public with options for consideration to help them resolve their ongoing and often protracted disputes.

LSMS chair Brian Speers said: "Mediation in many cases is effective quick and involves less cost than a court hearing and is increasingly encouraged by the courts.

"We are therefore delighted to launch the site, which provides access to information and a directory of professionally trained solicitor mediators who can help parties in the resolution of their dispute”.

The Society has already showcased the new service to Lady Chief Justice of Northern Ireland Dame Siobhan Keegan.
