IRELAND'S largest pizza chain Apache has extended its northern portfolio to 20 stores with a new outlet in Newtownabbey.

The Pizza chain has created 20 jobs with its latest takeaway at Portland Avenue in Glengormley.

It’s the group’s first new store in the north since it announced plans in March to open 20 new outlets here creating 400 jobs.

“Apache Pizza prides itself on being local, being part of local communities and on serving great tasting pizza which can be enjoyed anywhere, at any time,” said chief executive Martin Lyons.

He said the company has identified Crumlin, Whitehead, Dunmurry, Ormeau Road and Carnlough as locations for new stores in the coming months.

“Being local is what is driving our expansion,” he continued. “We are local to homes, businesses, schools and universities and we are focused on offering Delivery and Take-Out wherever people are looking for great pizza.

"We are delighted that our new store in Newtownabbey is providing local people with an opportunity to secure employment where they live and to develop and advance their careers as we continue to grow and expand across Northern Ireland,” he added.

Apache Pizza was founded in Dublin in 1996 before expanding into Northern Ireland in 2016. It now operates 184 stores across the island, employing around 2,750 people.

Mr Lyons said the fast food group is currently seeking new franchisees to help expand its presence in the north.
