ENTRIES have opened for the Greater Newry Area Business Awards, which are due to take place in-person on September 9 and will reflect a story of resilience and recovery.

The biennial awards, run by Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade, recognise and reward the very best the region’s business community has to offer.

And whether trading as a local independent, multi-national, a manufacturer, retailer or service provider, the Chamber is urging businesses to embrace this opportunity to be recognised.

The awards' principal sponsors and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and Shelbourne Motors, alongside a number of category sponsors.

Newry Chamber president Emma Mullen-Marmion, said: “The Greater Newry Area is synonymous with entrepreneurship, innovation, excellent service, product quality and customer care, and we look forward to receiving applications from over the coming weeks.”

Council chair Cathy Mason said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the innovative, successful and high-performing businesses located across our district. The awards offer recognition to a range of sectors and business approaches, which all contribute to driving forward growth and investment here.”

Caroline Willis, financial director at Shelbourne Motors said: “Since opening our flagship Newry site back in 2019, we've welcomed over 7,000 sales and after-sales customers through our doors, which is a testament to the support and opportunity for businesses to grow within this area.”

Details of the 20 awards categories, criteria and how to apply are available at www.newrychamber.com. Applications must be submitted by Monday July 19 and short-listed companies will be confirmed on August 12 before the gala award ceremony in the Canal Court Hotel on Thursday September 9.
