PAYROLL provider Payescape in Ballymoney is further expanding its services with the addition to its portfolio of payroll engine PayRun.io.

The acquisition gives Payescape, which was founded in 2006, access to a number of new markets and integration possibilities it hasn't seen before.

Payescape uses cloud-based technology to provide customised online payroll and HR services to businesses across the UK and Ireland.

It has more than has 1,200 clients including McDonald’s, Boojum and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and last year it reported a 40 per cent growth in sales.

Its managing director John Borland said: "We're delighted to welcome the PayRun.io team. Combining our skills and knowledge means we can continue our growth trajectory and advance our offering."

Payescape's joint owner is Steve Sarowitz, the billionaire founder of US payroll company Paylocity.

He said: "Payroll software is at the heart of our business model and until now we have relied on a third-party software to process our UK payrolls.

"Acquiring PayRun.io will allow us to be more efficient and productive in how we deliver our service."

In February this year, Payescape said it was investing more than £1 million and creating 20 jobs in customer service, implementation and sales in Ballymoney, helped by £144,000 of support from Invest NI.

Stuart Hall from PayRun.io, who is no stranger to building successful software companies and sold his company to Intuit in 2014, said: "We're excited about the opportunities ahead and the success we can achieve together."
