THE north’s largest nursery chain Clear Day Nurseries has opened the doors of its eighth facility, creating more than 40 jobs.

Clearly Kids Lisburn takes residence at the site of the former Wallace Restaurant on Bridge Street, with the refurbishment of the 8,640 sq ft. development representing an investment of £1.25 million.

Clear Day Nurseries launched in 2005, with schemes in Belfast, Dundonald, Portadown, Newtownabbey, Lurgan and Bangor, employing more than 200 staff across all sites.

The nursery's operations director Audrey McCracken said: “We'd been looking for the right location, and the Bridge Street site had everything we wanted.

“It is ideally located for commuting parents yet situated right on the banks of the Lagan it also provides a proximity to nature that not many city locations do.

“We have invested heavily in the refurbishment to ensure facilities are at the highest specification possible as well as the most robust in terms of safeguarding children. This is a major investment in the Lisburn area, with plans to create upwards of 40 jobs as we develop our roster of children.”

Cora Harrison, nursery manager at Clearly Kids Lisburn, added: “All Clear Day nurseries have their own personalities, all reflecting a warm, homely environment for the children we look after. Lisburn will be no different, and we look forward to serving families in the local community.”
