A LEADING Irish accountancy practice has announced plans to create 30 jobs at its new Belfast office as part of an ambitious growth programme.

ASM Chartered Accountants, which has offices in Belfast, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Newry, Dundalk and Dublin, is looking to add to its existing team, which has already grown by 40 in the past two years.

The recruitment of 30 new staff at the firm's new Belfast base at the historic former linen factory at Glendinning House on Murray Street, is a response to growing client demand.

The expansion and move from Rosemary Street is also due to new contract wins, as well as mergers including in 2016, the Belfast-based practice Crawford Sedgwick.

The new specialist roles are to be put in place over the next three years and add to the accountancy firm's existing 200-strong workforce.

ASM director Brian Clerkin said the expansion is due to dramatic recent growth in Belfast.

“We have been growing steadily over the past decade and quite dramatically more recently, with our staff numbers growing materially in the last 24 months alone. Our former site on Rosemary Street served us well, but we simply outgrew it. When the opportunity arose to move to newly refurbished offices at the top of Glendinning House, we knew we had found our new home," Mr Clerkin said.

“We have always aimed to and we are proud to have built a reputation for professionalism, excellence, expertise and dedicated customer relations and as such we are now attracting more business locally and internationally.

"Our team of accountancy experts across the island is increasing rapidly to service this growing demand."

Caroline Keenan, ASM tax director added:

“This major investment indicates our confidence in the future of the company and sends a clear message to our staff that their hard work is valued, that we have a very bright future and they will have exceptional opportunities and that their wellbeing and comfort is important to us. It will also help us attract new talent inspired to work in a forward-facing company that respects and embraces our city’s rich industrial history and business heritage.”

Launched in 1995, ASM ihas grown to become one of the largest accounting and management consultancy firms on the island of Ireland. The company's client portfolio spans small, owner-managed and family businesses to large public bodies and corporates across Ireland, the UK and internationally.
