FOOD and retail wholesaler Musgrave has announced a £1.1 million upgrade of its Belfast-based Duncrue cash and carry.

The revamped 52,000 square foot store, which employs 179 staff, will officially open in October and will feature a range of new speciality areas and state of the art technology to offer retail and foodservice customers a best in class shopping experience.

This includes specialist meat, cheese, fruit and vegetable counters with a fresh expert on hand to advise on the latest culinary trends, an equipment area, showcasing an extended range of products and increased range of items.

Northern Ireland’s leading wholesale supplier to retail, foodservice and SME businesses, Musgrave is making the significant investment as part of its ongoing commitment to deliver refurbishments across all branches nationwide, with a renovation currently in progress at the Robinhood store in Dublin and the launch of the new Ballymun branch of Musgrave MarketPlace last year.

Wholesale director at Musgrave NI Trevor Magill said the investment underlined the company's commitment to its cash and cash enterprise in the north.

"The food and drink sector is constantly evolving, and as a business, we need to ensure that we continue to innovate and respond to growing trends that impact our customer’s needs," he said.

"This investment is testament to our commitment to providing cash and carry stores of the future. As well as providing our customers with the products they want, we will also be able to add value through our experts on hand in-store.”
