MOIRA curtain maker Beaufort Interiors is expanding after securing new business in Britain.

The company has won large commercial contracts in London where it is gaining a growing reputation.

It is taking on eight new staff across production, accounts, operations and sales.

Managing director Ruth Wilson said: “We are getting impressive traction in London, working with high end designers on manufacturing of soft furnishings and I’m excited about the growth opportunities for Beaufort Designs in the UK Furnishings market."

The expansion has been backed by £48,000 from Invest NI.

“Invest NI’s ongoing support is helping us capitalize on the opportunities we have identified and also build the resources needed to fulfil the growth in orders," added Ms Wilson.

“Securing display space at Chelsea Harbour Design Centre in March was a major coup for us. As the only curtain manufacturer within the design centre amongst 120 high end designer fabric brands, this is an unrivalled platform for us to showcase our range of luxury, bespoke products.”

Invest NI's director of consumer products Grainne McVeigh described Beaufort as "a niche manufacturing business which has had to react quickly in order to respond to opportunities brought about by substantial growth in the soft designer furnishings market in the UK".

“Investing in new staff and focused marketing will enable the company to meet its customer’s demands and take this family firm to next level. The jobs being recruited at the business will generate £193,000 annually in additional salaries, which is good news for Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area.”

Chelsea Harbour Design Centre is considered the world’s premier destination for design excellence.

It is home to 120 showrooms and more than 600 of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands, offering a thriving platform, both creatively and commercially, for an exceptionally dynamic industry. Some of the luxury brands include Mulberry Home, Turnell & Gigon, Armani, Colefax & Fowler, Harlequin, Zimmer and Rohde.
