IRISH burger chain Eddie Rocket's is planning a major expansion across Northern Ireland as it opens its second outlet north of the border.

American themed diner chain Eddie Rocket's has opened its first outlet in Belfast with the creation of 25 jobs.

The Lisburn Road eatery is the second for the group in the north after it opened an outlet in Newry's Quays shopping centre earlier this year.

And the company said it was seeking to expand the brands "immediately" in Northern Ireland through franchises.

The new diner seats 90 people and is styled with vintage American dining booths, individual table jukeboxes.

Niall Fortune, owner of Eddie Rocket’s Ireland said the firm was just at the beginning on its foray into the north.

"Belfast celebrates our first franchise but second diner opening in Northern Ireland. Located on Lisburn Road, it’s a great central location in the busy premier shopping area of Belfast, and is sure to be well received by customers looking to enjoy the all-American Eddie Rocket’s experience that we are famous for.

"Having opened its doors only a few days ago, we are delighted that all systems and procedures are in place and running smoothly.

"At Eddie Rocket’s, we are fully committed to bringing the brand further afield and beyond Belfast and Newry and are actively seeking to secure additional franchises in a bid to expand the Eddie Rocket’s brand within Northern Ireland.

"By 2018 we expect that there will be 100 Eddie Rocket’s and Rocket’s by Eddie Rocket’s throughout the country and Europe and we are well on our way to achieving this. Our franchise partners in Belfast have helped us to roll out another great diner in Northern Ireland, with many more to come.”

The opening brings to 35 the number of Eddie Rocket's diners operating in Ireland while there are also five Rocket’s by Eddie Rockets throughout the country.

The firm has also introduced Rockets, an "urban food concept" at Topaz forecourts with 40 planned over the next seven years.
