Reverend Richard Coles is coming to Belfast with his new show Borderline National Trinket set to play Mandela Hall in Belfast on January 26.

An intimate evening with a unique national treasure embarking on his first full national tour because he’s done pretty much everything else a person can do.

Richard is no stranger to the stage as a former pop star making up half of 1980’s band The Communards.

However, he turned from rock to religion in his late twenties going on to become a Church of England vicar, broadcaster, Sunday Times bestselling author and Twitter phenomenon.

He is the only British vicar to have had a number-one hit single and to have appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing – a claim which seems unlikely to be matched any time soon.

However, Richard stepped away from his clerical duties in 2022 and in his retirement has decided to lift the lid on his life which has been both truly and truthfully lived.

From sex, drugs and pop stardom to religious epiphany, love and the madness of grief the show has been described as witty, intelligent and truly fascinating. A review from The Scotsman said it was “the comedy equivalent of afternoon tea will leave you pleasantly entertained.”

“[The Reverend Richard Coles] has, on his own softly spoken and modest way, become something of a national treasure.” Claimed the Independent.
