THEATRE fans have had their first glimpse of actor Packy Lee as former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams in a new stage production centred on the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.

Written by award-winning local playwright Owen McCafferty, Agreement will run at the Lyric Theatre in Belfast from March 25 until April 22 to mark the 25th anniversary of the historic peace deal.

Yesterday, Peaky Blinders star Packy Lee, who is originally from west Belfast, posted a photo of himself in costume as Gerry Adams on Twitter.

Part of the Imagine! Belfast Festival, the Charlotte Westenra-directed Lyric Theatre Production also stars Dan Gordon as former SDLP leader John Hume, Patrick O'Kane as former UUP leader David Trimble, Andrea Irvine as former NI Secretary of State Mo Mowlam and Rufus Wright as Tony Blair.

According to the Lyric, Agreement "examines the negotiations leading up to the Good Friday Agreement and weaves real drama out of this complex, momentous and landmark moment for Northern Ireland".
