DOWNPATRICK trio Ash have released the first single from their forthcoming new album, Race The Night, and announced a new Dublin date for later in the year.

Available on all streaming services now, the album's title track offers a taste of the indie rockers' first album in over five years, which will be their eighth since they formed in 1992.

“Race the Night is the sound of the band reveling in the sheer joy of being a band after being separated by time and distance through the insanity of the early 2020s," explains singer/guitarist Tim Wheeler of his band's latest single.

"Lyrically, it's all about seizing the crossroads moments in life with both hands. Take every chance as if it could be your last.”

Set for release on September 15 via Fierce Panda, a label Ash previously worked with on the 1994 compilation Crazed and Confused, Race The Night will be supported by an autumn/winter tour, including a stop at The  Academy in Dublin on October 9.

The upcoming tour will be a co-headliner with The Subways, and fans pre-ordering the Race The Night album from ash-official.com before 11.59pm on Sunday will receive a code providing early access to tickets for the shows before they go on general sale on June 21 at 10am.

In the meantime, Ash will also be playing some Irish shows next month at Mike The Pies in Listowel (July 6), Forest Fest in Porlaoise (July 21-23) and the Ballinrobe Festival in Ballinrobe (July 29), and they are also on the bill for this year's Playing Fields festival in Co Clare (August 25).
