Ex-One Direction star Harry Styles will play to 80,000 fans in Slane Castle as music returns to the Co Meath venue for the first time since the Covid 19 pandemic on Saturday.

Construction is well underway to transform the historic venue into Harry’s House, ahead of the pop star’s arrival, as part of his Love On Tour slate of shows.

Spearheaded by Slane Castle owner Lord Henry Mountcharles, Thin Lizzy headlined the venue's inaugural concert in 1981.

Since then, Slane has become one of the most celebrated outdoor concerts in the country, hosting stars like Madonna, Queen, U2, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and, most recently, Metallica in 2019.

Gates on Saturday June 10 open at 2pm, with support coming from UK indie darlings Wet Leg, Irish pop-rockers Inhaler, featuring frontman Elijah Hewson, Irish DJ Annie MacManus, and a solo set from Styles' guitarist Mitch Rowland.

Styles is expected to take to the stage around 8.30pm, with a mix of hits from across Styles' three solo albums, with the bulk of the set coming from his most recent Harry's House.

Since launching his solo career, Styles has gained prestigious accolades, including two BRIT awards, a Grammy award, an Ivor Novello Award and an American Music Award.

His Love On Tour shows were postponed due to the pandemic and finally started in September 2021 in Las Vegas. He followed his gig in Slane with two dates for four nights in Wembley Stadium, London.
