CAPTAIN America's crime-busting better half returned to TV this week for a second series of Agent Carter.
Picking up one year after the climax of the previous season, it finds plucky Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) secret agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) leaving New York for sunny Los Angeles as she embarks on a new, highly dangerous mission.
Peggy soon discovers that post-Second World War Hollywood isn't all glitz and glamour: a new wave of atomic age criminality is about to be unleashed upon the world, unless she can do something about it – with a little help from her faithful side-kick Jarvis (James D'Arcy), naturally.
Benefitting from a winning lead performance by Atwell as its elegant, resourceful heroine, Agent Carter's retro-styled action adventure fun ranks alongside Gotham in the top crop of current 'strip-to-screen' adaptations.
