AS SOME of you will doubtless already be aware, tomorrow is Record Store Day – the annual frantic scramble where music enthusiasts are encouraged to shell out extortionate amounts of money on one-off seven-inch singles and coloured vinyl LPs.

With the demise of Head and Sick Records in Belfast, local heads will have to hit the coast to get their RSD vinyl fix this year, courtesy of Bangor's Bending Sound Records.

Happily, the shop at 59 High Street will be doing its best to make their trip worthwhile: its declaring tomorrow to be Bangor Vinyl Day and promoting a cornucopia of record-related delights.

Bending Sound itself will be open from 9am to 5pm for those seeking RSD releases, while second-hand junkies can hoover up used vinyl at a record fair across the road in the Bangor MG showroom from 9am until 3pm, featuring a live set from singer/songwriter Dolbro Dan at 2pm.

Flea Market Soul will be supplying a steady procession of vinyl-only DJs at High Street hostelry Hop House from 3pm until late, while north coast singer/songwriter Mandy Bingham (daughter of David 'Days of Pearly Spencer' McWilliams) will launch the vinyl edition of her new album Bury Me Deep with an in-store gig at Bending Sound at 6.30pm.

And, if you get bored of record shopping, Capri Club NI will be hosting their annual charity show at McKee Clock on the Bangor seafront from 10.30am.

A large selection of classic Fords will be on display, with a collection for Friends of The Cancer Centre running throughout the show – so make sure you don't spend all your money on records.
