DESIGNERS come under the spotlight this week in a series of talks, workshops, pop-ups and exhibitions to promote and celebrate the creative economy in Belfast Design Week.

Design Science, held tonight at The Book Reserve, Lisburn Road, features Sri Lankan-born AP de Silva, a chemistry professor and a percussionist who works at the Queen's University Belfast, and Derry-born Dr Verity Faith, who will be talking about Design for Dementia.

At lunchtime tomorrow, the Northern Ireland Design Alliance present a panel discussion with Marc O’Riain, president of the Institute of Designers in Ireland.

Fringe events include the The Fashion Vault at Spires presented by Grainne Maher; festive craft pop-up The Big Bauble; and woodcarving and Japanese indigo dyeing at the Crescent Arts Centre.
