Unanswered questions over John Ireland

It is alarming that very basic details about the circumstances surrounding a fatal road accident which took place in a built-up area of west Belfast almost two years have yet to be established.

John Ireland (20) died in a crash involving a scrambler bike on the Monagh Road, but, as we reported yesterday, his relatives say that, despite a police investigation, they still do not know who the driver was and insist that CCTV evidence from the district was not properly checked.

The family say they are distressed over a range of unanswered questions and their solicitor has appealed for help from any witnesses to the tragedy on September 13, 2014.

Even at this late stage, after a complaint has been made to the police ombudsman, anyone who can help in the search for the truth has a firm responsibility to come forward.
