Anger over callous attack

There will be enormous sympathy for the delivery driver who was callously robbed after he was knocked unconscious when a brick was thrown at his car in west Belfast.

The Chinese national, who is married with a baby son, was providing a service to the community when he was so brutally attacked on Albert Street, beside St Peter's Cathedral, on Sunday evening.

He is still recovering in hospital after a six hour operation and his distraught wife remains uncertain about the full extent of the head injuries he suffered during the appalling incident which could easily have resulted in his death.

Concerns over anti-social behaviour and wider criminality in the same district have been growing in recent years, and bringing the perpetrators to justice must be regarded as an absolute priority by the authorities.
