Dissidents engage in crude campaign of intimidation

Dissident republicans have again engaged in the disgraceful and unjustified disruption of ordinary people's lives through a series of security alerts across the north.

Belfast Metropolitan College, the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh and the Waterfoot Hotel in Derry, which were all due to host PSNI recruitment sessions, were evacuated and traffic was severely disrupted during the alerts.

It is yet another demonstration of the dissidents' approach to anything they disagree with - they engage in intimidation and bullying.

It is not terribly sophisticated but it is what we have come to expect. However, it is unlikely to deter anyone determined to serve the entire community in a policing role.
