Three men in their twenties and thirties have been arrested after a man was beaten by attackers armed with baseball bats in east Belfast.

The man suffered injuries to his face, arms and his chest in an attack on Paxton Street at around 10.20pm yesterday.

Three men aged 20, 25 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon.

The three remain in custody today.

Police have asked anyone who saw a silver Renault Megane in the area at the time, or has any information about the attack to contact them on 101.
