A YOUNG man has died in a farm accident in Co Down.
The man, believed to be aged 22, was understood to have been crushed by a falling slab at a farm near Kinallen Road in Katesbridge at around 10.30am yesterday.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police attended a sudden death at a farm in the Katesbridge area on Friday 4th May.
“The Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
It is understood the man, who had a family, was from Bessbrook in south Armagh.
SDLP councillor Seamus Doyle, who lives close to the farm, said he believed the young man had been helping to put up a farm shed when the accident happened.
"I would want to extend my sympathies to the dead man's family," he said.
"It's just so tragic to lose a young person."
