Woman rescued from mud following fall in Co Derry

Firefighters have rescued a woman who became trapped in mud in Co Derry.

The incident happened in the Aughrim Road area of Magherafelt on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.20pm.

Four fire appliances from Magherafelt arrived at the scene, while appliances with specialist rescue equipment were called from Derry and Belfast.



“Firefighters used equipment to release the trapped female, who thankfully was uninjured,” a spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service said.

A PSNI spokesperson confirmed police attended the scene following a report of a person having slipped.
