Funeral held for former ladies GAA player in Co Tyrone

THE funeral was held yesterday of a Co Tyrone former ladies' GAA player who died suddenly in hospital.

Family and friends of Triona McNabb from Dromore gathered to say their final farewells to the young woman, who was described as a "loving person with a heart of gold".

Requiem Mass was celebrated at St Davog's Church, Dromore for Ms McNabb, who had been battling an illness.

She passed away at the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh on Monday.

Ms McNabb worked at Crosshill Gallery in Omagh, which was closed yesterday as a mark of respect following her passing. In a tribute to Ms McNabb, the gallery said "Triona you will forever be remembered by us all as a kind hearted and loving person with a heart of gold".

She had close links with Dromore Ladies' GFC, playing for the club for many years and managing Dromore's 2010 Senior Intermediate champions with her sister Maeveen.

The club said Ms McNabb had a "heart of gold and was always at the ready to help out wherever she was needed".

"Triona you will forever be in the hearts of all Dromore Ladies," it said.

Following her funeral yesterday, Ms McNabb was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Ms McNabb is survived by her parents Rosaleen and Patrick and siblings Edel, Maeveen and Cathy.
