Police seek help to identify man in shootings inquiry

A MAN in his twenties is being sought by police investigating two shootings in residential areas last week.

Police say they have yet to identify the man who is around 6ft 3in/4in tall and of muscular build with a sallow complexion and tightly cut blonde hair - which is possibly dyed.

The man is believed to be Eastern European.

The shootings happened in Sandy Street and Armagh Road on Thursday September 17.

A 32-year-old was shot in the leg in Sandy Street at around 12am following a "verbal altercation".

Another 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound between 12am and 1am after being dragged him from his Warrenpoint home and driven to Armagh Road where he was shot in the leg.

Detective Inspector David Henderson said: "We believe this man was in the area of Armagh Road when the shooting there occurred.

"We are keen to identify and locate this man and would ask anyone with information to contact us at the earliest opportunity in Newry on 101."
