A YOUNG mother-of-two who died suddenly in Majorca was a "beautiful girl" who will be much missed, the priest who concelebrated her funeral said.

Aisling Anderson (22), from Ardoyne in north Belfast, died less than a fortnight ago while she was on a short break in Santa Ponsa with her fiance Michael McGrann.

Her death came 12 years after her brother David (18) was killed along with two friends in a horrific crash in Mallusk, Co Antrim.

Aisling had two young children, Michael (four) and baby daughter Ava-Rose. She and her fiance, who had only been engaged for two weeks, were on their first night out when she collapsed and died from heart failure.

Her body was brought home to her grieving family last week.

Aisling's funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr Terence McGuckin in Holy Cross Church in north Belfast yesterday morning followed by burial in the City Cemetery.

Rector of Holy Cross, Fr Gary Donegan, who concelebrated the funeral, said Aisling's family have held themselves "with great dignity and grace".

"The whole community was deeply shocked by Aisling's death," he said.

He said Aisling's death was particularly difficult for the family, who have already buried one child.

"It's awful that the family has had to bury two children," he said.

Fr Donegan said it was poignant that Aisling's death notice and the notice of her baby daughter's baptism were in the same parish bulletin.

"On behalf of the Passionist community and the whole parish our sympathies go out to the family," he said.
