BELFAST-based JComms was named Northern Ireland’s outstanding PR Consultancy at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards in the Culloden.

It took the Gold prize in the category which is consider the most prestigious in the scheme and is presented as the final award on the night. It won against stiff competition, including from Holywood agency Smarts, which had collected it the previous two years.

JComms also won Gold in the arts, culture or sport category for its work on the Tim Peake Spacecraft exhibition at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.

Judges named JComms as outstanding consultancy "due to its clear business strategy, high levels of professionalism, creative client work, ability to deliver quality campaigns internationally, and its commercial success".

Managing director Chris Harrison said: “The past year has been a strong one for the company, with our team’s ability to deliver incredibly high-quality, creative work in Northern Ireland, across the UK and Ireland, and internationally enabling us to grow our client-base and revenues. This achievement is a great endorsement of our strategy and approach.”

Public transport provider Translink took home four Gold awards for their PR campaign to launch the Glider rapid transit service.

Judges praised Translink for delivering an “innovative and truly creative campaign” which “delivered impressive outcomes including passenger growth and increased revenue” and “punched above its weight to exceed its objectives for public benefit”.

Health and Social Care Board, Jago and Tourism NI and LK Communications also picked up two Gold Awards each, while in the individual categories, Age NI’s Gail Whyte was named outstanding young communicator and Maurica Mackle took the title of outstanding independent practitioner. RNN Communications was named outstanding small public relations consultancy.
