NORTHERN Ireland women’s boss Tanya Oxtoby has delved into the past in calling up players for the Nations League play-off games against Montenegro later this month.
Goalkeeper Lauren Parry has been brought back more than five years after her last appearance while defender Rachel Dugdale has not featured in a senior squad since September 2020.
Cliftonville Ladies defender Kelsie Burrows is also on the panel having had to opt out of the games against Albania and the Republic of Ireland in December due to work commitments.
That trio replace Liverpool Feds goalkeeper Rachael Norney, Cliftonville Ladies defender Abbie Magee and Crusaders Strikers defender Rachel McLaren in the squad that will head to the Balkans for the first leg on February 23.
The 27-year-old Dugdale, under her maiden name of Newborough, has won 24 caps but has not been involved since being an unused substitute for a Euro 2022 qualifier against the Faroe Islands in the autumn of 2020.
Goalkeeper Perry made her senior international debut at the age of 16 and went on to earn five caps in 2017 and 2018; however, she did not make any appearances under Oxtoby’s predecessor Kenny Shiels despite being involved in training camps. The 22-year-old moved to Montrose Women from Scottish Women’s Premier League rivals Dundee United Women last summer.
