Newry City manager Barry Gray has been handed a six-match touchline ban

Newry City manager Barry Gray has been hit with a six-match ban following comments he made about match officials following his side’s defeat to Cliftonville in the Sports Direct Premership last month.

Gray was yellow-carded during the match at the Showgrounds on January 13 for complaining to the referee Evan Boyce about a red card issued to Newry midfielder Ciaran O’Connor and was highly critical of match officials after Jonny Addis’s winner deep into injury time had given the visitors all three points.

Newry City were also fined £1,000.

Crusaders manager Stephen Baxter

Crusaders boss Stephen Baxter will also spend a spell on the sideline after he received a four-match ban following critical remarks he made about referee Stephen Clegg in the wake of his side’s Premiership defeat to Larne on January 12. Crusaders were also fined £750.

Meanwhile, trouble during last week’s Co Antrim Shield final has seen Glentoran slapped with a £2,500 fine. Larne’s Andrew Ryan was hit with an object thrown from the crowd where flares were also on display.
