THE GPA has welcomed clarification by the GAA and the Association's willingness to establish a female charter.

In a statement, the Players body said: "Players welcome today’s public clarification by the GAA Director General Tom Ryan at the Joint Committee for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media that the GAA are willing to help establish a female charter should they be so asked by the LGFA and Camogie Association."

"It has always been the players’ view that the GAA would have to play a role and it is encouraging that they have now made their willingness to do so known on the public record.

"The ball is clearly now in the LGFA and Camogie Association’s court."

The statement said the LGFA and Camogie Association provide detail for necessary funding and establish a " standardised charter for female inter-county players in line with their male colleagues"

The GPA statement concluded: "Players remain willing to sit down collectively to find the much-needed resolution."
