St Mary's, Clady to defend title against Draperstown

THE U16 Derry Post-Primary Schools final takes place at Ballinascreen on Tuesday when St Mary's, Clady lay their title on the line against old rivals St Colm's, Draperstown.

St Mary's are also the reigning Ulster champions at this level and, with a few of last season's side still on board, they will go into the game as slight favourites. They are managed by Martin Boyle and former Derry star Paddy Bradley. In the semi-final, they overcame St Patrick's and St Brigid's, Claudy. Key players for them include Ryan Convery and Lorcán Spier in defence, Fergal O'Kane in midfield and Damon Gallagher and Paul Cassidy up front.

St Colm's are under the guidance of Ciarán Meenagh and Benny Heron and they will be seeking revenge for defeat in the Derry semi-final 12 months ago. When these two sides met at U14 level two years ago, St Colm's triumphed by the minimum margin and it's expected to go down to the wire here again.

St Colm's had a convincing win over St Mary's, Limavady last day out and they will look for big displays here from the likes of Ciarán Doyle and Aaron Bradley in defence, Martin Bradley at midfield and John Paul Devlin and Noel Rafferty in attack.
