Linfield let loose to demolish Dungannon

Linfield hit Dungannon Swifts for five goals on Friday evening to stretch their unbeaten run to six games on the trot.

It followed a fairly convincing 7-0 win over Newry City last week as Linfield continued their charge for the league title.

Dungannon Swifts, on the other hand, remain in relegation trouble as only Portadown FC are below them in the table, with seven points between the sides.

Linfield, playing away from home, opened the scoring after 17 minutes through Christopher McKee, knocking the ball into the bottom corner from close range.

Ethan Devine, who hit the net twice on the night, soon doubled their tally after some great work by Kirk Millar.

Linfield carried that 2-0 advantage into the break and stretched the lead to three almost instantly after the turnaround.

This time it was Joel Cooper, who hit four against Newry, that beat Declan Dunne to put the reigning champions 3-0 up.

Devine doubled his personal haul straight after, before Millar fired home the fifth and final goal of the night.
