Michael Lyster saved by his wife's first aid skills

Michael Lyster has become one of RTE’s best-loved broadcasters over more than three decades as the host of The Sunday Game.

He suffered a major heart attack at his Dublin home earlier this month, and, as we reported yesterday, it is clear that only the prompt intervention of his wife, Anne, saved his life.

Her CPR skills kept him alive long enough for an ambulance to reach the scene, and, after a full recovery, he is now planning a return to our screens within a matter of weeks.

First aid techniques can often be neglected but Mr Lyster’s experience demonstrated that they are capable of making an enormous difference when an emergency occurs.
