The Met Office has asked for a helping hand in naming storms which could hit the UK and Ireland this autumn and winter. It used Twitter to ask for people to suggest stormy monikers using the hashtag #nameourstorms.
Twitter decided to have a bit of fun with the idea of tagging weather.
First up, the appreciated genuine suggestion

@metoffice #nameourstorms, will you use an alphabetical list like other places? I suggest TESSA & ABIGAYLE as names to use.

Some mild reference to wind – and not the storms
@metoffice #nameourstorms – Lionel – after my late grandfather he was known to regularly cause 'medium' and 'high' wind impacts on the UK!

The absolute best ideas
@metoffice #nameourstorms after superheroes – "Watch out for the Spider-Man, Hulk or Super-girl storm". "The Thing is expected on Saturday"

#nameourstorms Can companies sponsor storms in the names of other companies? Coke could pay for the headline 'Pepsi destroys village'
