Tallaght Garda station in Dublin has been evacuated following the discovery of a bag with suspicious contents.

The station was closed to the public on Friday while explosive experts inspected the bag.

A Gardai spokesperson said officers had been on active patrol in the Tallaght area in south Dublin when they arrested a man.

When he was brought to the Garda station, an inspection of a bag he had with him indicated “contents of concern”, a spokesperson said.

“As a precaution, the Garda station has been evacuated and the Irish Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal has been requested,” they said.
